Letter to Sharks' Fans from Bevo

Dear Sharks Members,

I am writing to introduce myself to you as the new Head Coach of The Southland Sharks.

My name is Rob Beveridge (AKA Bevo) and this is my 27th year as a fulltime professional basketball coach and I consider myself very fortunate to be working in an industry that I truly love.

I have coached at all levels from junior levels to international levels over my career and I am very excited that I have been given the opportunity to coach a club that has so much heart, pride and tradition. To be appointed as Head Coach of such a great franchise is very humbling and I will not take this job lightly.

Firstly, I would like to acknowledge Judd Flavell for the tremendous job that he has done over the past 4 years and I hope that I can continue to build on the legacy that Judd is leaving behind.

One of my main goals for our club is to put together a great group of players on the floor that will do everyone proud and will push for a playoff spot in our first season together as a new group. (Once you make playoffs, anything can happen!)

Our style of play for the Sharks will be exciting for the fans with an up-tempo, high intensity offence and an uncompromising defence. Every time we step onto the floor we will be committed to playing our best every week and play hard together as a team.

Another goal is to reach out to the entire community and have you as part of our team. We want everybody to know that we are accessible and committed to the community that supports us. As a member, you will have free access to ALL of our training sessions so please fill free to contact our office to confirm our training times.

I will be coming to Invercargill from November 18 – 21 for a few days to meet with Southland Sharks management to start the process of building a program and the recruiting process.

Please don't hesitate to come and introduce yourself and say hello!

I have heard lots of great things about the Southland community and I am excited about moving to Invercargill for the season and look forward to becoming part of the community and having a bright and successful future in The Southland region.

Yours sincerely

Rob Beveridge Head Coach - SIT Zero Fees Southland Sharks
