SIT Zerofees Sharks forward, Nick Kay, is Round Nine player week after leading his side to their sixth straight win, defeating the Canterbury Rams 93-79. Kay registered 16 points, 12 rebounds, five assists and two blocks for the Sharks who are sitting comfortably at second place with a 9-3 record.
Kay was also instrumental in the Sharks win over the Hawks after trailing by as many as 19. Kay had 16 points and nine rebounds.
The Wellington Saints extended their unbeaten run to 12 games with a 94-76 win over the Taranaki Moun-tainairs. Forward, Josh Duinker, grabbed a double-double of 21 points and 12 rebounds. Corey Webster scored 25 points in the win, and is in a close battle with Rams forward Marcel Jones, who scored 27 against the Sharks to lead the league in scoring by a slim 0.1 points per game.
Lindsay Tait stepped up big last week, leading the James Blond Supercity Rangers to two crucial road wins. Tait had 26 points, six rebounds and five assists in the 95-88 win over the Taylor Hawks, and 16 points, seven assists and five rebounds in the 76-71 win against the Mike Pero Nelson Giants.
Both Dillon Boucher (11 points, eights rebounds and eight assists) and Mitch McCarron (24 points) also got in on the action for the Rangers who sit at third place with a 7-5 record.
Other notable performances in Round Nine were from Taranaki Mountainairs point guard Houston O’Riley (17 points, seven assists versus Saints), Hawks guard Everard Bartlett (18 points versus Sharks) and Hawks centre Amir Williams (16 points 17 rebounds versus Sharks, and 12 points, 14 rebounds versus Rangers)
