The Southland Sharks fought back from an early deficit to defeat the Nelson Giants 95-85 on the road and secure their 10th win in a row. The Giants got off to a strong start behind the shooting of Kruz Perrott-Hunt and the attacking play of Liam Judd, helping Nelson to a 25-21 lead at quarter time.
Southland would eventually build the lead to 13 points, but the Giants continued to fight back through Samuel Dempster and Shane Gatling. The Sharks sealed the result on the back of Rylan Jones' scoring and the all-round impact of Samuel Timmins, with Southland responding to every Nelson challenge throughout the second half to close out the 95-85 victory.

The Southland Sharks looked sharp to open proceedings, with Dane Bertinshaw and Tobias Cameron helping the visitors establish an early advantage. Their defensive pressure and rebounding gave the Giants little room to operate in the opening minutes as Southland seized the early momentum.
Nelson gradually worked their way back into the contest through the efforts of Elijah Inwood and James Matthews. Inwood's activity at both ends of the floor sparked the Giants, while Matthews helped create opportunities as the home side began to settle into the game. A strong finish to the half, highlighted by Rico Varricchio's interior scoring and a Joshua Nickel three-pointer, saw Nelson overturn the deficit and take a 19-13 lead.
The Giants' defensive intensity proved the difference through the middle stages, forcing turnovers and limiting Southland's offensive rhythm as Nelson turned an early deficit into control of the contest.
