Result: Taranaki Airs (74) are defeated by SBS Southland Sharks (82)

A sleepy start in New Plymouth saw a 6-7 score 5 minutes into gameplay, early turnovers and dominant defence was shown throughout the game from the tip off. The Airs new imports came in hot James Moors dropping 9 points, 13 rebound and 4 assists, fouling out in 28 minutes and Brandon Stroud posting 21 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assists, 3 steals. Still a little work to figure out but a promising showing from the Airs' new imports. After a sluggish start Sam Timmins and Rylan Jones got it going for the Sharks who came into the third quarter firing. Jones led the way with an impressive 12 rebounds, 25 points and 5 steals, paired with Sam Timmins' 24 points and 9 rebounds. Similar to the rapid league game, once the Sharks pulled away they led comfortably for the second half. Rylan Jones was an impressive force on offence defence and everywhere in between, taking charges, steals and knocking down 5 3-pointers. Outside of their turnovers the Sharks played a fundamental game, relying on their defence and second chance scoring which ultimately led them home. The Airs' unbeaten home streak comes to an end in the face of the Sharks' 3-game win streak.
