Result: SBS Southland Sharks (106) defeated The Northern Group Tauranga Whai (84)
The Whai had quite the challenge ahead of them as they would be on the back of a double header weekend facing a Sharks squad that was well rested. The Southland side had gained strength from their last game as the addition of Boone and Inger would surely be felt.
The game kicked off and immediately the Sharks fly out of the gate. The home side shot the lights out and wouldn't look back. Caleb Asberry would showcase why the Sharks wanted to bring him back with 21 points in the first half. The addition of Boone also proving valuable as he'd contribute 18 points in 17 minutes off the bench. Tukaha Cooper would also score a season high 15 points as well.
For the Whai, it was a struggle. Outside of Taine Murray, offence was limited and the size difference between the Whai and Sharks was evident. The Sharks outrebounded the Whai 39-26 with no one on the visiting squad getting over 3 rebounds.
A dominant showing from the Sharks from start to finish.
