Game Recap: Tuatara v Sharks

Result: Jadcup Auckland Tuatara (91) defeat SBS Southland Sharks (72)

For both teams, wins came against opponents who were undersized, with both teams taking wins against the Franklin Bulls. Now, these two teams face each other in a true battle of size. With the size came great defence. Both teams made it difficult on each other to score and it resulted in a low scoring 22-18 quarter in favour of the home team. Caleb Asberry showed his value early and the connection with Sam Timmins was clear. The duo would try their best to keep the Sharks afloat, but the height of the Tuatara and the shooting of Josh Dilling and Zach Riley would prove too much. The Sharks would eat into the deficit at the start of the fourth but the Tuatara, much like their prior game against the Bulls, would notch another level late in the fourth. It'd be too much for the Sharks as the home team would move to 2-0 on the season.

Auckland Tuatara: Josh Dilling (22p, 11a), Chris Johnson (17p, 14r, 2b), Zach Riley (22p, 6r, 6a)

Southland Sharks: Sam Timmins (17p, 16r, 3a, 2s, 2b), Caleb Asberry (13p, 3a, 2b), Tukaha Cooper (14p, 2s)

Rapid League game:

Result: Jadcup Auckland Tuatara (38) defeat SBS Southland Sharks (24)

After a dominant win over the Bulls, the Tuatara were looking to add another one to the win column. For the Sharks, they were looking to bounce back after a narrow loss to the very same team. Auckland opened on a 7-0 run, propelled by good plays from Jackson Kiss on his return. It would be reasonably low scoring, totalling only an 8-7 first quarter that would turn into a 20-15 lead for the home squad.

Throughout the game the Sharks were kept alive by the impressive shooting from Quake Webster who seemed like he could pull from anywhere. He sunk 5 of 6 3's in the inning
