Sharks add two big-name signings for Nuggets

The Southland Sharks will add two big names to an already stacked roster for their redemption showdown against the Otago Nuggets in Dunedin on Sunday.

Max Darling and Tobias Cameron - who have both played for the Tall Blacks - are set to make their long-awaited Sharks debuts on Sunday after missing the first 10 games of the season.

Darling has been nursing a calf injury, while Cameron has just returned to New Zealand following a stint playing in England.

The pair are two high-quality additions to a Sharks group that is already flying on the back of seven straight wins. It has included dispatching fellow title contenders the Auckland Tuatara, Canterbury Rams, and Wellington Saints in the space of seven days.

Next up is a Nuggets team that Southland will be eyeing for a bit of payback.

The provincial rivals visited Invercargill in round one of the competition and took down the Southland Sharks at home at ILT Stadium Southland.

Albeit that Otago victory was against a much different Sharks team that will take to the court on Sunday in Dunedin, with a host of players late arrivals for the Sharks season for various reasons.

While the additions of Cameron and Darling will be significant boosts for Sunday’s game against the Nuggets, it’s doubtful that important big man Sam Timmins will take to the court for the Sharks today as he rests a niggle.

Sunday’s NBL game at the Edgar Centre is scheduled to tip-off at 6pm, which will follow the Rapid League fixture at 5pm.
