Sharks shooting for nine straight on Sunday

The Southland Sharks will attempt to continue their onslaught in the 2026 National Basketball League when they host the Franklin Bulls in Invercargill tonight (Sunday).

The Sharks have won eight straight games and have firmed as competition favourites given the stacked roster coach Jonathan Yim has managed to pull together and the way the team is gelling at the moment.

Yim does feel there is still plenty of improvement left in the group, which is another warning shot for the league.

The Franklin Bulls arrive in Invercargill fresh from one of the most dramatic wins of the season on Friday night.

Franklin’s one-point road win as the buzzer sounded over the Otago Nuggets showed plenty about the Bulls’ resilience. Down double digits in the fourth quarter, Carter Whitt, Jace Carter, Kael Robinson and Derrin Boyd all found ways to make winning plays, with Whitt eventually hitting a tough game-winner in the final second.
