Result: Manawatu Jets (78) are defeated by SBS Bank Southland Sharks (102)

In a quirk of the draw the Jets and Sharks faced off for the second time in six days, with the Sharks backing up after a scrappy win on the road in New Plymouth two nights prior. The Sharks jumped out of the blocks taking the first quarter 21-9 with Brayden Inger scoring the first five points and Caleb Asberry getting to the line and then draining a three on the quarter time buzzer to push the Sharks' lead to double figures. That was as close as the Jets got. The Sharks again relied on balanced scoring with five players in double figures, lead by Asberry's 20 and Inger's 19 with Keylan Boone adding 18 from the bench and Rylan Jones capping a stunning road trip with a stat line of 17p/10reb/9ast/4stl.

Leading Players

Manawatu Jets: Kaden Sand (27pts, 11 reb), Jamal Poplar Jr (26 pts, 18 reb)

SBS Bank Southland Sharks: Caleb Asberry (20 pts, 8 ast), Brayden Inger (19 pts, 8 reb 6 ast), Keylan Boone (18 pts), Rylan Jones (17 pts, 10 reb, 9 ast)

Rapid League game:

Result: Manawatu Jets (27) are defeated by the SBS Bank Southland Sharks (35)

The Southland Sharks made it a successful northern venture with their second away victory of the round. Having beaten Taranaki 48 hours earlier, the Sharks backed that up with a 35-27 victory over the Manawatū Jets in Palmerston North. The Sharks led 13-12 at quarter-time and, and thanks in large part to Jack Ramage scoring nine first-half points, were 21-17 to the good at the interval. A Dane Bertinshaw triple and a Riley Snow inside finish extended the Sharks’ lead to double figures, and although Boston Caldwell, the Rapid League’s leading scorer this season, took his tally into double figures, the Sharks were able to maintain control through the closing minutes.

Leading Players

Manawatū Jets 27 – Boston Caldwell 13pts, Hamza Zahran 7pts & 6rebs

Southland Sharks 35 – Jack Ramage 12pts, Tautoko Wynyard 6pts, Riley Snow 6pts, Will Leger 5pts & 7rebs
